2022 Dear Yuletide Writer <3

In general I love: juicy worldbuilding exploration and character studies most of all (anything that makes the world feel more lived in!), hurt/comfort, queerplatonic or other nonnormative relationships, smart characters (I hesitate to use the word "rational" because that tends to imply a certain subgenre that's a bit more hit-or-miss, but...I love when it feels like characters are making the best decisions they can with the information they have available, not just what the plot requires), crack taken seriously, stories as a vehicle for the author to infodump about their special interest, characters going to therapy, 5+1, neurodivergent character headcanons, Jewish content.

It's funny how science fiction universes.... | Humans are Space Orcs - bogleech (Tumblr Post)
This concept makes my day whenever it crosses my dash. I especially love the versions where a human sacrifices themselves, the way humans just do all the time, in a way that's unremarkable to humans but which creates a blood debt for the shocked aliens who were saved. Or the tragic "humans are unstoppable until they aren't" - saving their crew, dying slowly of radiation poisoning or smoke inhalation, but still saying they'd do it again if they had the chance, because it's the right thing to do. Tragedy but also bittersweet.
Emelan - Tamora Pierce
I discovered this series later in life and the concept grabbed me by the throat and wouldn't let go. I love the idea of household magics and the creative ways to use them. And I adore the relationship Briar and Rosethorn have, especially after Rosethorn's illness. So much respect, but with space for Briar to be prickly still. I put worldbuilding as a request but it's ok if that doesn't make it in. Prompts (use if you like or go your own way!):
Tailchaser's Song - Tad Williams
This poor unnoticed book. Surprisingly rich lore, fun with hidden names, and cats! I'm in desperate need of some - any - content about the female cats in the book, though.

Exandria Unlimited: Prime
This was such a tightly timed series we didn't get a ton of chances to see the characters just existing together. I miss Dariax! I loved the upfront way he lived his life and the wind you could hear whistling between his ears. Any scene with him would be amazing, pre- or post-canon, or a missing scene from during the show. Maybe he takes a guy on a date that goes hilariously wrong. Maybe he writes a letter to Dorian. He seems like a character who's perfect for the "ohoho you thought this was a crackfic but then I hit you upside the head with FEELINGS" structure.

Tailchaser's Song - Tad Williams

Prompts:
- The other two main characters on the quest both had connections to a Firstborn: Tailchaser to Firefoot, Pouncequick to Whitewind. Would be neat if Roofshadow had that too - maybe an interaction with Fela Skydancer (who canonically can't talk, which is tricky). But she'd have had plenty of time for visions of Skydancer while she was healing after the others were taken into the mound, or when she was taken prisoner.
- The other two also got tail names on this quest and she...got a maybe-potential love interest -_- or maybe she did and just didn't talk about it??
- Post canon: what's she been up to while Tailchaser was off looking for Hushpad? Is she still interested in waiting for Tailchaser? Is she having trouble connecting to other cats, when she's seen these horrible things and then is expected to go back to normal life? How does she feel about being Tailchaser's second choice :/
